Kirkby United Football Club

Kirkby United Football club currently has 2 teams. A first team and a reserve team. They both perform well in their respective leagues and have had success in recent seasons. The first team won their league in the 2015/16 season and the reserves won theirs in the 2018/19 season. The first team have also won the Paul Wilson Memorial trophy twice and are the current holders for the 2018/19 season.

During the spring and summer training takes place at the Community Centre field on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During the autumn and winter training is held at Ulverston Sports Centre. Matches for both teams are played on Saturdays with some weekday evening games played towards the end of the season. The team is made of up members from Kirkby and surrounding areas. The team always welcomes new players from the age of 16.

Kirkby-in-Furness Cricket Club

Kirkby Cricket Club is a small community club who currently run 2 senior teams, the 1st team play on a Saturday in the North Lancashire Division 1 and the 2nd team play on a Wednesday night in the Furness Cricket League. They practice at the ground on Tuesdays at 6.15pm. All players old and new most welcome.

Tennis in Kirkby

The Community Centre has two tennis courts at the MUGA (multi use games area).  These are free to use by village residents and visitors to Longlands caravan park.

A small group of people play in the Duddon League against teams from other clubs in the area. We are always looking for people to join in, they usually play on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm during May, June and July.

Kirkby Bowling Club

Kirkby Bowling Club always welcomes new members. The season runs from April to September.

The Bowling Club has 5 teams, all in leagues:

  • Ladies: a team of 10 plays on Tuesday evenings
  • Men: a team of 8 pensioners plays on Monday or Tuesday afternoons
  • A team of 12 plays in the Ulverston League on Wednesday evenings
  • 2 teams play in the Furness League, one on Friday evenings and one on Saturday
    afternoons

There is an in-house tournament at the end of the season for all members who wish to play. Both men’s teams have recently been promoted to higher divisions of the Furness League.

Membership fees are £15 for a year. You also pay £1 match fee.

Members can use the green any time to practise or play for fun rather than in a league team.

Duddon Valley Netball Team are a friendly informal group who welcome all players regardless of experience to come along and enjoy a social game of netball. We currently meeting on a Wednesday evening at 7pm-8pm on the MUGA. All welcome.
