GALA NIGHT FUNDRAISER

Saturday 24th June  |  1930-2300  |  Gala Marquee Live Music by Shelley’s Bane! Bar from the Commercial! Ticket price includes pie and pea supper (vegetarian options available). Duddon Estuary litter pick

A wet morning didn’t stop a few hardy souls carrying out a succesful litter pick on Duddon Estaury between Soutergate and Mere Beck on Sunday 30 April. The litter pick was organised by Graham Robinson, on behalf of the Kirkby footpath group, and was supported by Kirkby Community Centre and Kirkby village volunteers. Kirkby Community Centre Volunteering Day To mark King Charles’ Coronation, thousands of organisations across the country are getting together as part of a national Big Help Out campaign in their own communities. On Monday 8th May, Kirkby Community Centre will be hosting a Volunteering Day as part of the Big Help Out campaign. Volunteers can help to tidy/improve the Community Centre grounds and areas around the village.

Playground Climbing Frame now re-opened

After many months out of action, the playground climbing frame has now been re-opened following successful repair. A new splinter free post has been securely fixed into a concrete foundation. The repair was kindly carried out by Graham Robinson. Many thanks to Graham for volunteering his time to repair this popular piece of equipment.

Adults starting the Kirby Fell Race as part of the BOFRA fell racing season

BOFRA Fell Race Saturday 26th June

In spite of the Gala being cancelled, the British Open Fell Runners Association (BOFRA) will be coming to Kirkby and running an event as part of their 2021 schedule of races.  This is a permitted activity as it is an organised sports event and is conducted under BOFRA rules.   Local senior runners wishing to participate must register in advance email with your details to   in order to comply with Covid 19 safety restrictions. Pump Track Development

Young people of the village have expressed interest in the development of a bike pump track. The committee are keen to respond to the needs of young people in the community and are actively progressing the concept to identify costs and potential locations for the provision.

Open Day!

The newly refurbished community centre opened its doors for bookings on the 3rd of September 2020 and is already proving popular with fitness and recreational activities. On the 12th of September we held an Open Day to enable the public to view the new community centre provision. An official opening ceremony for all our funders & supporters will be held on Saturday 26th June 2021 along with the annual Gala.
